entrepreneurship@UBC welcomes first joint EiR with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences
This Winter marked the appointment of Entrepreneur in Residence (EiR) Linh Le as the first joint EiR between entrepreneurship@UBC and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. This opportunity demonstrates entrepreneurship@UBC’s commitment to collaboration across the university and nurturing a ‘many hands approach’ to venture building, helping to further opportunities for UBC entrepreneurs. Within this role, Linh will work with founders in entrepreneurship@UBC’s venture portfolio and Human Health Venture Studio as well as members of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences (including students) to further their knowledge, research and discoveries through venture creation and commercialization opportunities.
With over 10 years of venture building experience, Linh joins us with a BSc in Chemistry from Vietnam National University, a MSc in from Columbia University, and a PhD (ABD) in Chemical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. He is the founder and CEO of flextrapower, a university spin-off based on his PhD work on graphene material. He led the negotiation and executed the worldwide exclusive license with the university for further technology development and product commercialization.
Throughout the past several years, entrepreneurship@UBC has been dedicated to growing its bench of Entrepreneurs in Residence who leverage their expertise and insights as entrepreneurs and executives for the ventures of tomorrow. EiRs work closely with founders in HATCH Venture Builder, our collaboration with the Institute of Computing, Information and Cognitive Systems (ICICS), to develop their venture opportunity, build their networks and access funding for market impact.
This position represents the significant opportunity to broaden entrepreneurship@UBC’s network of EiRs amongst UBC’s robust and diverse faculties, encouraging entrepreneurialism amongst the university’s population of students, staff, and faculty members, while meaningfully working with different academic sectors on campus.
“The appointment of a joint Entrepreneur in Residence with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences represents the enormous potential for entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial thinking to impact how we collaborate across campus and inspire the communities we serve. We are honoured to be working with Pharm Sci and Linh Le on this initiative, and look forward to sharing the outcomes and successes of this endeavour!”
- Kari LaMotte, Managing Director, entrepreneurship@UBC
