We inspire and educate the leaders of tomorrow, helping them to build transformational ventures that will change the world.
entrepreneurship@UBC works with early-stage ventures across the University of British Columbia, helping to develop entrepreneurs and build their ventures from infancy to growth stage. We engage with entrepreneurs across a range of disciplines, industries and backgrounds, creating a diverse pipeline of ventures ready to change the world.
The entrepreneurship@UBC journey begins with the Entrepreneurial Explorer, helping entrepreneurship-curious students, staff, faculty and alumni across UBC engage in the rigours of venture building through on demand programming and resources. For founders ready to take the next step, they can join the Venture Founder where we help teams to execute on and develop their venture’s solution through intense focus on vision, customer discovery, market validation, value proposition and more. Once they have established customer validation, developed a proof-of-concept, have a rudimentary financial business model and a growth trajectory plan, ventures advance to the HATCH Venture Builder. The HATCH Venture Builder is a collaborative initiative between the Institute for Computing, Information and Cognitive Systems (ICICS) and entrepreneurship@UBC, providing venture teams with the space, resources, and expertise to take their business to the next level.
We are also a partner of Lab2Market Validate, a nationwide program that helps brilliant minds in STEM graduate and postdoctoral programs reimagine their futures. Throughout the program, you will discover a passion for entrepreneurship, build an entrepreneurial skill set, and connect with the network you need to turn your idea into successful businesses.
Through entrepreneurship@UBC's Venture Studios, teams are able to tap into venture building activities for themed industry verticals, such as Climate Solutions, Human Health and Social Impact. The studios are the mechanism through which we are able to provide additional resources to ventures, such as mentors, EiRs, talent recruitment and programming, over and above our foundational programming and resources. The nuanced elements of a themed industry vertical include specialized knowledge in market opportunities, business models, sales and fundraising to help ventures gain traction. Our studios provide communities of like-minded innovators and leaders opportunities to strengthen networks, deepen our understanding of the critical issues at hand and inspire collaborations.
