Building a pipeline of founders representative of both UBC and Canada’s rich and diverse landscape is of the utmost importance to us at entrepreneurship@UBC.
Rooted in our mission to develop intrapreneurial and entrepreneurial leaders and propel venture creation from the university, we believe deeply in creating opportunities for all UBC entrepreneurs to launch their ideas and innovations to impact. Holding equity, diversity and inclusion at the forefront of decision making is paramount to actually building systems for a more inclusive future.
The first steps
This fall, our team conducted an audit of the members in our ecosystem to understand who is in our community, the types of entrepreneurs and ventures we support and what gaps need to be addressed.
Knowing there is much work to be done, this report serves as a starting point for our organization to grow and develop mechanisms to build entrepreneurs and leaders across our ecosystem with varying backgrounds and venture solutions.
As valued members of this community, we wanted to share our findings to remain accountable to growing and evolving with diversity, equity, and inclusion at the helm.
