Something a part of every startup’s venture building journey? Achieving milestones….and sometimes, we are lucky enough to be included in them. For us, a major milestone is helping ventures advance over time and, eventually, spread their wings.

On this note…

Earlier this month we said a bittersweet goodbye to 5 ventures as they graduated from the HATCH Accelerator Program: FTSY, Green Metrics, Java Group Programs, Koonkie and Stoko. Members of our innovation ecosystem came out to the HATCH Makerspace to witness graduates “walk the stage” and celebrate their accomplishments alongside our community of ventures, Entrepreneurs in Residence, team members and mentors.

In partnership with the Institute for Computing, Information and Cognitive Systems (ICICS), the HATCH Accelerator program works with up to 25 ventures at any given time, generating a steady stream of companies that are ready to scale. How? By providing the most talented entrepreneurs with the right mentorship, training, creative space and funding to take them to the next level.

The process of creating a company requires perseverance. The end product however, can be game changing. Over the course of 12-24 months, these 5 ventures traversed unknown startup territory and forged their own path. They’ve come a long way since starting the program, making an impact as part of our community while contributing to entrepreneurship@UBC’s own innovation story.
