Here's Who Pitched At Investor Day
Over 40 local investors were present to hear the newest batch of ventures pitch. Last year’s event attracted significant interest from investors with five over-subscribed rounds.
The afternoon kicked off with opening remarks from entrepreneurship@UBC’s Managing Director, Kari LaMotte, followed by presentations from Dr. Aria Hahn, CEO & Founder of Koonkie Cloud Services and Michael Carlson, CEO & Founder of CarboNet Nanotechnologies.
Events like Investor Day play an important role in preparing our ventures to pitch and build relationships with the local investor network.

The 10 featured ventures had seven minutes to pitch for funding and three minutes to answer follow up questions. This year’s ventures covered technologies that included automated precision floor installation, wine enhancement instruments, recruitment AI as well as medical solutions for snoring. They were selected based on their fundraising readiness level which was determined by a third-party evaluation committee comprised of four angel investors.
Investor Day was a great way to kick-start our fundraising journey and to gain exposure to the community of local investors. It was also a learning opportunity for our team when it came to pitch preparation and practice.

Investor Day follows on the heels of Pitches & Pitchers held last November, where 16 entrepreneurship@UBC ventures delivered 30-second pitches to a wider audience of investors, industry professionals and mentors.
The next opportunity to hear entrepreneurship@UBC accelerator ventures pitch will be at the next Pitches & Pitchers event taking place on November 20th, 2019.
