Introducing the 33 newest ventures to join our CORE Venture Building program!

Three times a year, entrepreneurship@UBC's CORE Venture Building Program welcomes a new cohort of ventures who are driving innovation through disruptive technologies, business models and trends. Ranging from agritech and AI to consumer goods and retail, these early stage ventures are focused on achieving product-market fit and preparing for investment and growth.

The ventures in our newest CORE cohort span from machine learning and apparel, all with incredible founders at the helm. This being said, we are pleased to introduce you to our first CORE cohort of 2021!

AcceleratePlus is a global firm that focuses on bringing affordable, accessible, and personalized resources to students to advance in their careers via mentorship by pairing them with highly skilled professionals in the workplace through our innovative technology.

Afrohub Marketplace

Afro-hub Marketplace is a one-stop shop where consumers can conveniently access the products and services of black-owned businesses.

Alleviate Labs

Alleviate Labs is creating a product that improves the way small businesses train/assess employee communication skills and provides safe practice opportunities for difficult conversations in the workplace.

Alterativ Design Lab

Alterativ Design Lab is an innovative design firm utilizing the altering power of design to facilitate a future where the natural and built environments co-exist in harmony.

Biome

Biome is an online platform to connect small businesses who seek to promote themselves based on their shared values of care for their community, their employees and the planet.

Blackhorse Education

Blackhorse Education helps Chinese students overcome fears in speaking English by providing a safe environment and online learning community.

Bombshell Boxing

Bombshell Boxing creates high quality and environmentally conscious Canadian-made activewear for women in martial arts.

Brave New Grads

BraveNewGrads supports university students in early career exploration by offering a technical enabled recruiting platform that empowers students to transition from the classroom to their dream job through strategic course planning.

Kloak is building a digital ecosystem with solutions for individuals and businesses to establish and secure their Internet access, enable trustworthy networking, and provide mindful applications that meet 21st century needs with 21st-century privacy.

LightUp Solutions

We help others succeed in payments through professional consulting services, outstanding IT solutions and superior customer services.

Limoo

Limoo is an AI-backed mobile app that keeps users on track with a desired nutrition plan towards a healthier lifestyle.

Locality

Locality aims to seamlessly integrate local businesses into the day-to-day lives of ordinary people by creating a two-sided marketplace that connects locals and local businesses.

Meetable

Meetable is an app that makes finding friends in university easy by matching first years with groups of like-minded students based on their answers to a personality quiz.

MeatMe

Meatme's vision is to connect local, regenerative farmers to families in BC and beyond through the delivery of healthy, sustainable and ethical meats.

Peerone

Peerone emphasizes equitable education which includes ensuring access to affordable post-secondary admissions consulting services for any budget.

Sarcomere Dynamics

Sarcomere Dynamics, developing next-generation robotic technology to provide highly articulating, silent, and lightweight prosthetic hands, at a significantly reduced cost to the customer.

Scrapless

Scrapless is Canada's mobile food redistribution application that saves good food from going to waste.
