Here’s who made Rocket Builders’ 2021 lists

barrels

BC has an incredible ecosystem of early stage startups. Across the province, we are seeing achievements made in climate solutions and green energy, healthtech and life science companies, communications and many others.

UBC is recognized for its leadership in research excellence and global impact, and is a rich landscape of innovation contributing to our provincial sector. As UBC’s incubator/accelerator and part of the university’s wider Innovation portfolio, entrepreneurship@UBC helps to propel this innovation into the world through venture creation, moving the needle for early stage companies and creating global change.

Celebrating its 19th year, Rocket Builders’ annual "Ready to Rocket" lists recognizes growth leaders in our ecosystem, profiling British Columbia technology companies that are best positioned to capitalize on the technology sector trends that will lead them to faster growth than their peers. The lists identify the province’s Emerging Rockets (companies poised for growth) and Ready to Rocket (companies already scaling revenue) across several categories including Agri-food, ICT, Clean Tech, Digital Health, and Life Sciences.

We were thrilled to see so many members of our venture community on this year’s lists, marking their spot as leaders in BC’s innovation ecosystem with their high growth potential. Placement on the list adds credibility and value to the ventures that are featured, predicting future success.

On their inclusion on the 2021 Emerging Rocket (ICT) list, Pocketed Co-Founder Brianna Blaney shared:

“Ready to Rocket’s recognition of Pocketed on the 2021 Emerging Rocket (ICT) list is a huge testament to the incredible work, traction, and momentum our team has achieved over the past 5 months. When we made a big pivot in fall 2020, we couldn’t have imagined the pace and market response to Pocketed – it has far exceeded our expectations! We went from idea to completing a $1.5M proof of concept, then building and launching a product with users (and a 500% oversubscribed launch) in less than 100 days! Tiffany (Hamilton) and the team at entrepreneurship@UBC have been instrumental in supporting us through our pivot and providing resources and advice as we try to drink from the ‘firehose’ that is Pocketed!”

Every year, we are elated to see our community recognized for their outstanding achievements and contributions to our provincial landscape on these lists.
