As one of the top 40 universities in the world, the University of British Columbia (UBC) is a catalyst for innovation. Across the UBC landscape, we are seeing research and ideas brought to bear through entrepreneurial pathways, being propelled from the university into the world creating positive economic, cultural and environmental impacts through venture creation.

entrepreneurship@UBC in collaboration with the Institute for Computing, Information and Cognitive Systems (ICICS) have leveraged this innovation and entrepreneurial energy through HATCH Venture Builder (HATCH), creating a place where entrepreneurs with the drive to shape a better world receive the guidance and resources to achieve their greatest potential.

Over the past several years, the investor landscape across North America has seen volatile highs and lows. Despite this, we are witnessing remarkable successes with our venture community gaining traction and accomplishing major milestones.

Our ventures have participated in rigorous training and mentorship to help prepare them for the uncertainty of entrepreneurship as they endure the riskiest stages of venture creation: building networks, establishing market traction and accessing capital. A company’s investor is one of the most important relationships they will have and we’ve seen our innovation ecosystem come out and champion our founders time and time again as they embark on this next stage of their venture building journeys.

Join us Tuesday, May 2 at UBC Robson Square to meet ventures Ready-to-Raise at the 2023 Investor Showcase, presented by entrepreneurship@UBC and ICICS!

Meet the 16 ventures taking the stage

What is it

The Investor Showcase spotlights high-potential, investible ventures across a range of industries currently supported by HATCH Venture Builder and entrepreneurship@UBC’s Venture Founder program to our investor community.

Meet UBC ventures who are raising, create connections across the ecosystem and champion our community of entrepreneurs and innovators driving change!

How it works

The Investor Showcase will feature a selection of ventures Ready-to-Raise Seed to Series A rounds, chosen by an external evaluation committee based on funding and readiness criteria established through HATCH Venture Builder.
