Event: Turning Innovation into Revenue: Strategic Use of Intellectual Property
When: June 25th, 12-1pm
Where: Main Auditorium, Michael Smith Labs (map)
Registration: Here
Workshop Description: Continuous innovation and creativity are becoming the keys to success in an increasingly competitive market. Innovative ideas alone, however, have little value. Realizing value from innovation requires turning these ideas into valuable exclusive assets and strategically leveraging these assets to achieve a business’ commercial goals. Patents and trade secrets provide tools for turning innovative ideas into competitive assets that can be utilized to reap the benefits from innovation and creativity. This workshop will focus on the strategic use of patents and trade secrets and will include a review of how to protect innovative ideas using trade secret and the patent system and how to extract full value from innovation by developing a patent strategy that is aligned with the business plan.
