Sauder’s Orphaned Technology Event

Innovative technologies need entrepreneurs!

The Sauder School of Business is pleased to invite UBC students to the first Orphaned Technology Startup Weekend (OTSW). “Orphan technologies” are innovative products or services that are poised and ready for commercialization but have not yet been pursued commercially.

Students will be assigned to teams and learn about technologies previously developed on campus by UBC scientists. Over the weekend, they will develop business plans around these technologies and pitch them to a panel of judges who will award cash prizes to the top 3 teams!

Schedule

October 17th – 19th, 2014

  • Friday 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm – Opening comments and assignment of teams
  • Saturday 9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Meetings at Sauder with business mentors
  • Sunday 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm – Team pitches, judging and awards, and networking

The $30 early bird special ends Friday October 10th, 2014 so register today! This event is open to all UBC students.
