Export Development Canada is Hosting a Life Sciences & Healthcare Panel Discussion

Register for Export Development Canada’s (EDC) panel discussion to learn how startup companies can ‘grow beyond their borders’, whether financially, geographically, or developmentally. The panel features four leading experts in life science commercialization and global exporting, plus e@UBC’s Director of New Ventures as moderator. This free event is open to the public and is designed to connect startups with key industry players and discuss solutions to the challenges startups face in the life science and healthcare sectors. Interested teams will have the opportunity to meet 1:1 with a panelist or moderator after the discussion for personalized advice and information.

Panelists:

Mr. Antonio Lopes – Strategic Account Executive at EDC. Antonio is responsible for managing key capital market clients as well as leading Sector Team strategies within Life Sciences, Healthcare, and Equity Connect programs.

Mr. Peter Van Der Velden – Managing Partner at Lumira Capital, Canada’s largest dedicated life sciences venture capital investor. Peter has 26 years of experience as an investor or manager in building companies from start-up through to expansion (life sciences, information technology, and consumer sectors).

Mr. Dion Madsen – Senior Managing Partner in Business Development at the Bank of Canada. Dion brings over 15 years of senior management experience as a financial executive and venture investor, most recently as Founder and Managing Director of Physic Ventures, and as Managing Director of Unilever Technology Ventures, Unilever’s North American corporate venture fund.

Mr. Vincent Finn – Trade Commissioner in Life Sciences and IT in New York and Philadelphia. Vincent advises innovative Canadian tech companies on how to create, develop and expand their business in the United States.

Dr. Sean Lumb – Director of New Ventures at entrepreneurship@UBC. Sean has been involved in spinning out and financing University-based start-ups for the last 14 years.
