Women Who Tech | A Fireside Chat with Female Leaders
Join us on Thursday, November 16 to celebrate Women’s Entrepreneurship Day. In partnership with the BC Innovation Council (BCIC), The RAISE Collective, and Airbnb, BC Tech is bringing together some of our industry’s most exceptional tech leaders to talk about their careers and experiences.
Jill Earthy, CGO of FrontFundr will be moderating an intimate conversation with Diane Ko, front-end developer at Airbnb, and other amazing women (TBA), who are impacting the tech industry and paving the way for others. Attending this fireside chat will give you valuable insights on how to navigate your career and achieve professional success.
As part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (November 14-20, 2017), Women Who Tech is a day to celebrate the significant contributions that women make to drive Canada’s economy. We hope to see you there!

About the guest:
Diane Ko, Front End Software Engineer @ Airbnb
Diane is a front end software engineer, leading web accessibility at Airbnb. At Airbnb, Diane has been passionate about building the foundation for accessibility and teaching others about the impact of their work on individuals with disabilities. She is also the President of Nerdettes, an employee resource group for those who identify as a woman in tech. After graduating from UC Berkeley in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, Diane went on to work at Intuit, where she was first exposed to the importance of accessibility. She then went on to work at SurveyMonkey, where she was a member of their Technical Leadership Council, a group that guides technical decision making across the company.
Catherine Winckler, Founder & CEO @ Mindful Garden Digital Health
From an early career as an independent consultant with companies on the VSE and as a corporate writer for both start-ups and mature multinationals, Catherine moved into the world of branding as a partner in the design agency, Switch United. Along the way she became a member of Forum for Women Entrepreneurs, was invited to join the International Women’s Forum (IWF), immediately setting off to the Cornerstone Conference in Jordan, opened up a gourmet soup business on the side called The Soup Doctor and found a place on the Profit 100 Top Women Entrepreneurs. She is now the founder and CEO of MindfulGarden Digital Health Inc., a start-up that is developing an interactive digital health platform designed to de-escalate anxiety and aggression in seniors experiencing hyperactive delirium/dementia.
Kirsten Sutton, VP and Managing Director @ SAP Labs Canada
Kirsten Sutton is the managing director of SAP Labs Canada and global head of engineering for SAP Jam. As managing director, Kirsten is responsible for inspiring innovation within the Canadian development organization and managing SAP’s four research and development hubs across Canada. As head of engineering for SAP Jam, Kirsten leads a team of 100 developers to deliver cutting edge cloud collaboration software to more than 30 million users worldwide.

Jill Earthy, Chief Growth Officer of FrontFundr
Jill Earthy is an entrepreneurially minded leader who believes diversity drives innovation. She is currently the Chief Growth Officer of FrontFundr, an online investment platform connecting entrepreneurs and investors. She has built two companies and sold them, and then spent 8 years in nonprofit leadership roles supporting entrepreneurs. Jill serves on the Board of Governors for Simon Fraser University (SFU), and as Board Chair of the Women’s Enterprise Centre. She recently co-founded, The RAISE Collective, to engage more women to invest in early-stage companies. She is an active mentor and was recently named one of 35 Most Influential Women in BC by BC Business Magazine.
