Pascal Spothelfer describes business opportunity and an emerging “entrepreneurial ecosystem”

Last week the Vancouver Sun interviewed Pascal Spothelfer, UBC’s VP of Communications and Community Partnership, who described connections that the university is building in order to encourage successful ventures.

“We try to take our responsibility as a research-intensive university, around innovation, very seriously,” Spothelfer said. “But we don’t want to do it in an insular fashion and turn out entrepreneurs on campus to just throw them downtown… we want to build connections with the business community and (the roundtable) is an attempt to do that and reach out.”

The university is learning from organizations like San Diego Connect about their considerable success spurring innovation.
