NextBC has named top awards in the technology industry who are innovative and “will influence the future.” Congratulations D-Wave Systems who won silver and FusionPipe Software who won “audience favourite”.
The showcase and awards took place May 15 at the Telus World of Science on Quebec Street in Vancouver.

FusionPipe research involves professors and graduate students at the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University. Projects include advanced research and development in multi-factor mobile authentication and advanced encryption, 3D facial recognition and cloud computing infrastructure. The venture is also working with the UBC ECE Secure Systems Lab and collaborating with UBC on research for the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
D-Wave was founded by Haig Farris, Geordie Rose (CTO and former CEO), Bob Wiens (former CFO), and Alexandre Zagoskin (former VP Research and Chief Scientist), all with strong ties to UBC.
