Open Office

Complimentary R&D Advisory, Tax and Accounting expert consultations for e@UBC new venture teams

entrepreneurship@UBC (e@UBC) is pleased to welcome the BDO Canada LLP team to support the growth of new and current e@UBC ventures at all stages of their development.  In 2016, the BDO Team provided Open Office support for participants on campus, and will continue in 2017 with the first session scheduled for March 30. Also in 2016, BDO R&D Funding and Tax experts provided two information sessions on Government Incentives Programs, the Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) program, and tax planning opportunities for start-up ventures. The BDO team is planning to offer three new information sessions for 2017.

e@UBC’s Open Office program supports registered ventures in weekly one-on-one meetings with top entrepreneurs and industry experts. e@UBC startups may book these meetings to establish a mentoring relationship with e@UBC Entrepreneurs-in-Residence to accelerate their startup growth, to discuss funding opportunities, or to expand their entrepreneurial education.

“I am enthusiastic to support the e@UBC initiatives and have the opportunity to help in developing local entrepreneurs. Our Firm is active at national and local levels in inspiring and encouraging new commercial and social ventures by providing expert advice for compliance with a wide spectrum of accounting, tax, financial and R&D funding protocols,” said Michael Weatherby, a Manager with BDO’s R&D Advisory Services and UBC Engineering Physics alumni.
