entrepreneurship@UBC kicks off Global Entrepreneurship Week by Partnering with YELL to Advance Entrepreneurial Education in BC High Schools

Vancouver, BC (November 17, 2014) –The Young Entrepreneur Leadership Launchpad (YELL), an organization that teaches entrepreneurial thinking in British Columbia high schools, and entrepreneurship@UBC (e@UBC), a unique program that delivers an unprecedented combination of education, venture creation, and seed funding to maximize the creation of commercial and social ventures, today announced an innovative partnership to advance the access of entrepreneurial education and resources for BC high school students.

“Through this partnership YELL students will be given the chance to connect with e@UBC’s broader entrepreneurial community, while creating an integrated innovation pipeline from the high school level to post-secondary and beyond,” said Amit Sandhu, co-founder of YELL. “It also allows YELL access to university-level content, developed for the e@UBC’s accelerator program, and adapt it to fit a Grade 12 level course.”

e@UBC’s entrepreneurship initiatives range from access to a vast alumni mentor network to an entire ecosystem of integrated programs that can easily be accessed by UBC students, faculty members, alumni, and staff. Through the YELL program initiative, which runs mentor-based accredited entrepreneurial programs with West Vancouver, Coquitlam and Richmond School Boards, e@UBC saw an opportunity to provide mentorship support and tailored entrepreneurship workshops for students at an earlier level.

“This partnership allows us to leverage our cumulative knowledge, partners and expertise to not only create an entrepreneurial ecosystem across BC but also empower entrepreneurial thinking in students at an earlier age,” said Andrew Talbot, executive director, entrepreneurship@UBC. “This initiative is in-line with our goal to proactively train the next generation of entrepreneurs.”

The organizations will explore areas of collaboration to foster the development of a sustainable, high impact entrepreneurial ecosystem across BC. For more information visit: or
